An interesting round where the real def got zero votes! J-J wins by one
point with a final score of 7, and Nicolas is a close second with 6.
J-J 7: n. An oyster fork.
Ranjit 2, David 2, Pierre 1, Eric 2
Eric: So boring. Two points.
NICOLAS 6: n. A decorative squadron identification on an airplane's
fuselage or wing. Coined by airmen of the Escadrille de La Fayette during
World War I.
Jim 2, David 1, Eric 1, J-J 1, Elliott 1
Eric: Made me look up the Escadrille de La Fayette. One point.
Elliott: "Little code", maybe? One point. I suspect there's a joke hiding
here that I'm not getting because of not knowing enough about WWI.
ERIC 4: n. A type of small firecracker.
Pierre 2, J-J 2
Pierre: Two points. I hope we all know the difference between a firecracker
that fails
to crack and a partly dried cephalopod.
RANJIT 3: v. To cook by stirring hot liquid into beaten eggs.
Jim 1, Elliott 2
Pierre: Coddle.
Elliott: Wow, what liquid would that work with? Oil? Mercury? I don't
believe it at all, but I like the idea. Two points.
PIERRE 1: n. A still for distilling essential oils.
Ranjit 1
Ranjit: 1 point for distilling still.
REAL 0: n. A largely obsolete term from the game Ombre, indicating that the
game is won.
Pierre: Sonica award.
Eric: Theoretical points for ombre.
DAVID 0: n. A horse liniment.
Ranjit: imaginary "I wish I had one more point to give" point for horse
liniment (it was probably distilled in a codille and then codilled with
eggs that had been scrambled with a codille)
