Hi, ever notice the little square grilled thing atop an old fashioned hand-operated potato peeler? It's a bean frencher. You stick your home-grown green beans thru the grill and it makes french-style green beans. This is especially helpful if you have slightly older or larger beans that don't taste as tender when merely cut into lengths. Lacking the mini-machine, you can cut the beans lengthwise, but it is more dangerous and time-consuming that way. If the beanpods are really tough, you can discard them but throw the seeds into a pot of soup, keep them as dried beans, or save them for next year's planting. Linda
