word puzzle question

Hi all. I came up with (or may have resurrected a long-suppressed memory
concerning) a quick word puzzle, and I was wondering if it had more than one
answer.

The puzzle:
There's a word. It's a plural noun. By adding an "s" to the end of the word,
it becomes a singular noun. What is the word?

So, who knows the answer? Bonus credit if it isn't the answer I was thinking
of. Bonus credit also if you've heard the puzzle before, and can thus put me
in my place.
