RE: reef management: many years ago when my three boys were about 12, they and their friends built up a submerged pile of rocks (quickly, so no one saw it) by just a few feet, so it was no longer underwater and could be seen from the lakeshore cottages of their grandparents and their aunt and uncle, who many years later still complained about how the view had changed over the years. My kids never confessed about that indiscretion, but realized that if they had gone back to unpile the rocks, the ecosystem of the present creatures inhabiting the area would have been affected once again. Actually, one son did confess the rock pile adventure to his college outing club friends as a bad example. He is now a hydrologist in CA and an avid conservationist. Linda PS He's also an avid mountain biker and Adventure Racer, so he still makes tracks.
