Precisely. Although clearly no longer commonplace. I read about it
professionally, studying early modern England; I suspect I must have read in
the newspapers about Ian Paisley or some such use it; but I can't actually
recollect the last time I read about it being used. It is a wonderful
phrase, because it ties together in two words the Protestant dislike of the
whole of medieval/secular culture with the dislike of Catholicism.
