FICTIONARY “AVER, n” BALLOT March 9, 2009
Here you go, Fictioneers! Vote your twos and ones for your favorites. Votes due on late Monday, March 16th. I would give you a few more days, but then you wouldn’t enjoy St. Patty’s Day as much. Around here, where there is a large Irish population, the drinking starts early, and for fear of drunk drivers, I stay off the road for a while. Good luck! Linda, Defmeister PS Poems and jokes welcome as tiebreakers or for fun. PPS Corned beef and cabbage dinners with Irish soda bread=my celebration.

7) Aver, n. (AH-vur, AH-vuh). A daily prayer. (American Catholic schools, from -ave maria-) “Have you done your avers yet?”
8) Aver, n. (ā’ ver—there is supposed to be a squiggle ~over the e, but I could not find one-L). [OFr., from L habere, to have.] In England, a horse or ox when used as a beast of burden. [Obs.]
9) Aver, n. (ah’-vay-er). (slang) A Catholic who insists on praying in Latin and rejects the reforms of Vatican II. (From “Ave Maria”).
