HI, I'm not an expert and the crops are late this year, but I used to be an organic gardener for over 40 years until the deer ate up my entire veggie patch in one day when we were away and the dog was away with us and the peacock had died.  Often a fruit  tree is over-pollinated if lucky, and drops extras of its own accord or often the farmer trims them off --to promote the survival of the largest and finest, so called. Linda  My fruit trees are dying out, as most were dwARveS WITH A SHORT LIFE-SPAN AND THE OLD wild APPLE IN  FroNT of THE HOUSE HAS LOTS OF BLIGHT AND LICHENS.  oops, caps lock on again--too near the a key,  Linda
