I was browsing iNaturalist some days ago and came across an observation of a 
centipede identified as Plutoniumidae. So I looked up 1) why it has this odd 
combination of endings, and 2) what plutonium has to do with centipedes. The 
expected Plutoniidae would conflict with the snails or semislugs Plutoniinae, 
and the centipede Plutonium and the mollusk Plutonia were both named before 
the element was discovered. The centipedes are found in maquis, among other 
habitats.
